Internships

Valley Dream Farm offers apprenticeships for each season. Interns learn through experience. We grow both commercial and small scale production. You will learn what you need to start your own farm.

Do you have what it takes?

Assertive, happy, eager, and willing to work long, hard hours.

Typically, 10 hr days, 5 1/2 days per week, and every third weekend from mid May through October.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Enjoy and dress for the weather (we work in hot sun, cold rain, and humid greenhouses).

Work alone or in groups.

Find optimism in the face of adversity because something will break or not work at the most inopportune time.

Attend and participate in weekly meetings.

Challenge yourself to learn new skills.

Maintain personal hygiene and neatness in a group living arrangement.

Create recipes with farm produce.

Laugh at jokes and yourself.

Enjoy the beauty of being able to work surrounded by the most breath taking views.

What You Get

Shared Housing on the farm and tent sites 2 miles away for those who need a little distance from the work place.

Surplus vegetables.

A stipend of $700/month. Bonuses are given as earned.

Hike, bike, kayak, swim in the gorge.

5 miles to village, country store, pharmacy, restaurants.

Skills you will learn

Seeding, transplanting, hoeing, weeding, cultivating, row covers, crop rotation, insect control, greenhouse operations, irrigation, bed preparation, harvesting, bunching, storage and handling, packaging, haying, CSA, equipment maintenance, rotating poultry, electric fencing, retail and wholesale sales, inventory, marketing, farmers' markets, communication and performance evaluation.
